Marino Ficola was born in Deruta in 1969, where he lives and works.
Already a Master of Art, in 1993 he obtained the diploma of Sculptor at the “Pietro Vannucci” Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, and in 1995 the Diploma of Computer Designer for Ceramics. In 1992 he was a theatre collaborator at La Mama Umbria International in Spoleto, directed by the American director Ellen Stewart, while for some years he was studio assistant to the American sculptor Beverly Pepper. In this period he collaborated with sculptors of international renown.
He began his independent exhibition activity with his first solo show “Uomini in via di estinzione” (Perugia 1995). He took part in the group show Atelier Perugia (1996).
His performance Novecento digerito, Perugia, dates from 1999.
He took part in the exhibitions “Riflessi sulla natura”, Perugia 2000; Biennale d'arte contemporanea, Porto Ercole 2001; “Castum”, Camerino 2001. In 2001 the video Madre terra dedicated to him was produced, directed by Marco Agostinelli. In 2003 he took part in “Linia umbra osservatorio giovani 01”.
With the sculpture Espressioni he represented the city of Deruta for “Ceramiche Artistiche di oggi” in the ResTipica guide to the 36 Cities of Ceramics, in collaboration with the Italian Association of Cities of Ceramics (AiCC).

2006
European Art Priz 06, Museo Civico di arte contemporanea, Albissola Marina;
“Homo Urbanos”, Faculty of Architecture, Palermo; he took part in the international competition Ance Treviso, Premio Vento d'avanguardia (ex aequo winner of the first prize).

2008
Tribute to Alan Cage-Smith, the “Lustro” exhibition at the Palazzo dei Consoli, Gubbio.

2010
“54th Venice Art Biennale, Umbrian pavilion”, Spoleto.
Also from 2010 is the success of “Evolution Art Revolution”, a showcase promoted by UNESCO that set out from Paris for Gdańsk and then reached several continents.

2013
“Progetto Arte” at the Italcementi SPA research centre. A project set within the scientific and technological offices of “Chilometro Rosso”.

2014
“Ricognizione artisti umbri” at the CIAC in Foligno.

One of his installations, Angelo Blu, is on display at the Museo de Los Ángeles de Arte Contemporánea in Segovia, Spain, directed by Lucia Bosè.

He teaches the first and second sculpture courses at the “Pietro Vannucci” Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia.
