The first issue of Studi Umbri for 2022 is rich, as usual, in unconventional reflections on art, literature, diversity and culture, all enriched by a generous series of images and prints. Luigi Cimmino offers us some reflections on the much-abused, and not always truly understood, concept of identity, while Giorgio Pangaro reflects on William Carlos Williams’s poem Paterson and on the eponymous film inspired by it. P.G. Hönigmann returns to the theme of the “foreigner” in a new instalment of his series Bagatelle. Paola Virginia Gigliotti, a physician and mountaineer, makes her debut in our journal with a piece devoted to the relationship between man and nature. Marco Grondona’s essay “The Last Farewell”, by contrast, is devoted to music, and in particular to the work of Gioachino Rossini. But there is room, too, for Umbrian architecture, with a contribution by Giovanni Manfolini on the Villa del Colle del Cardinale. Finally, the art collective Affiliati presents us with a selection of sculptures of great visual impact.
